The Lost World Epic Adventure in Waitomo New Zealand
The Lost World Epic Adventure in Waitomo, New Zealand This is Waitomo's Ultimate Adventure. The Epic is more than just an adventure; it's a total experience where friendships are formed. Abseil 100m into the surreal Lost World. Descend slowly bouncing and turning as the mist filtered light gives unreal qualities to the strange plants and formations. The abseil into the Lost World is at least twice the height of any other cave at Waitomo and the beauty of this iconic cavern is unsurpassed. The decent takes about 30 minutes. Then have lunch with us down below before taking the wet way out! After lunch, in probably the strangest setting you have ever eaten, you'll head upstream, walking, swimming and climbing through cathedral-size vaults. You'll see waterfalls, ancient whalebones and oyster fossils as well as the magnificent glowworms. Emerge several hours later and enjoy a hot shower & well-earned dinner BBQ meal near the cave before heading back to Waitomo. All drinks and meals are included in this awesome 7 hour trip. Minimum age is 15 and there is a minimum amount of 2 participants. Bring your swimwear, a towel and an open mind.

~ Training F.A.Q's:
~~ What is your policy on Fitness, Health & Safety?: All medical issues must be declared when checking in and also when asked by your guides. In most cases, minor medical issues will not preclude participation. However, it is important that the booking staff and activity guides are made aware of any issues prior to commencement of the activity. Rescue underground is a slow & difficult process. There is a risk that complications such as hypothermia will make any rescue scenario more dangerous than the same injury sustained above ground.
~~ Can I wear my eye glasses? However, it is completely possible to wear glasses during these activities provided appropriate care is taken. If a client does wear glasses they must ensure that they are securely tied on to themselves at all times. They must also accept full responsibility for them. We strongly recommend that customers carry their own insurance for losses of this kind. There is no liability for for any damage to eyeglasses.
~~ Can children take part?
~~ Are there minimum numbers for the activities to take place?
~~ What about your Guides & Equipment? Thick socks are a good idea but optional - if you elect to bring them, they will get muddy. GUIDE ratios are high - ranging from 1:4 to 1:6 - depending on the activity. All guides are trained to the highest relevant standard for this type of work: NZQA 5489 & NZQA 5490. GUIDES in training are ALWAYS under close supervision by a qualified instructor.
~~ Can I take photographs during the trip? "Ferns and mosses coat massive cliff faces. It is misty, cool, strangely still and alive. It is beautiful in the cave, an eerie magical place. Around us is a breathtaking range of rock formations that includes stalactites, stalagmites, curious burbles, swirls and drips. At times it is easy to imagine you are in the belly of a prehistoric beast." - Karen, New Zealand Style Magazine "One of the most amazing things you can do in this country" - Lonely Planet Travel Guide "At the bottom there is a palpable sense of bonding. I stop myself short of shaking my own hand, and like everyone else on the adventure, I am ready to do the whole thing again." - Ross I., NZ Adventure Annual "SUPERCOOL!"- Mary and Jason S. , California "Absolutely wicked!! Guides were excellent" - Marianna S. , England "Awesome! Memorable Moment" - Samantha H. "Best experience of my year in NZ.
