Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
We have your car waiting for you at the Airport with all instructions in it. Depending on time of arrival there is still time to go to the Beach or have a look through Down Town Auckland or go up the Sky tower.

Day 2
You follow the road to Rotorua, the centre of geothermic activity and of Maori culture. To get to know each other we hop into a gondola, which brings us on top of a mountain close by with magnificent views of Lake Rotorua and surroundings. From there you go luging, little toboggans which you stir over various slopes down the mountain tracks. In the evening hours you can go to a Maori concert and Hangi, which will allow you to get a better understanding of the Maori culture.

Day 3
You have a look at a Thermal area and after having seen the geyser erupting, you can go for a swim in a hot water stream, just follow the road south and after 200 metres you come to a wooden bridge. Go down to the river, the water is hot and inviting! Further on you see the Huka Falls before coming to Taupo, Here we have booked to go horse riding! In the evening you can enjoy the hot pools in Taupo, where you stay overnight.

Day 4
You need to have an early start on your way to the Tongario Crossing. We have transport organised to get to the start of the track and to be picked up from the Track end. You tramp over the volcanic area of Tongariro National park, lahars fields, craters, an amazing landscape and bright green lakes are expecting you. The Tongariro crossing is the most famous one-day walk one can do in New Zealand. After having arrived at the end of the track you are brought back to your car, an hour's drive will bring you to a farm close to the Rangitikei valley, where you stay overnight.

Day 5
You get to know the farm and walk to one of the most famous swing bridges in New Zealand. In the afternoon we booked to go Rafting on the Rangitikei, the famous river well known from the Lord of the Ring film, lying in a deep gorge. From there you continue our journey to Wellington. Time to enjoy the nightlife!

Day 6
Time to explore the botanical gardens or the TE PAPA National museum, before you head with the Ferry to the South Island. We follow the picturesque Marlborough Sounds, a mixture of islands and peninsulas. You stay overnight close to the Abel Tasman National Park.

Day 7
After you were introduced into kayaking, you start a two day tour along the coastline of the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. Golden beaches and native rainforest make this into Paradise. You stay overnight in the Abel Tasman National Park.

Day 8
You continue paddling along the park, before you make your way back to the starting point.

Day 9
You leave towards the West Coast, where you go into an amazing cave. This is the time to go Black Water Rafting. While floating down little streams in the cave you can also experience the beauty of the glow worms, which makes the cave roofs seem as if you are floating under a sky with blue stars.

Day 10
You continue your journey along the West Coast and see the Pancake Rocks at the West Coast before you hop on 4WD Farm bikes with which you experience the mud and waterholes for which the West Coast is so famous. After a long shower you have time to see the 'Kiwi' in Hokitika. This little town is also a good place to shop for Jade or Greenstone, but there are also other Arts and Crafts articles, which you can find in Hokitika. You follow the West Coast, before reaching the village Fox, lying at the glacier with the same name.

Day 11
you got to get up early to see the reflection of New Zealand's highest mountain in the Lake Matheson. Afterwards you have the opportunity to fly with a helicopter to the peaks of Mt. Cook before preparing yourselves for a hike over the glaciers. Grampians, Ice Axe and an experienced guide will help you on your way up the glacier. A walk through the rainforest brings this day to an end. You continue your journey along the picturesque West Coast till you reach Haast, where you stay overnight.

Day 12
A two-hour jet boat tour is waiting for you. You follow the Waiatoto River upstream till you cannot go any further. On the way up you get lots of information about the surrounding landscape. On the way down you have Fun before heading into a lagoon and into some amazing little streams, which resemble Gondwanaland, the original continent . Several stops on the way to Queenstown allow you to get to know the waterfalls and the nature of this region a bit more. You stay overnight in Queenstown, adventure capital of New Zealand.

Day 13
This is your day. You can do almost everything. If you rather have a relaxed day, there is of course ample choice for that, too.

Day 14
After having organised your food we organised transport for you to Glenorchy and further on to the start of the Routeburn Treck. On your first day you climb 3hours to a hut just above the bush line with stunning views.

Day 15
You continue your tramping tour and walk right in the middle of the High country through marshes and along mountain lakes before reaching Harris Saddle. A little side tour up onto the top of Conical Hill allows you to see right around over Fiordland and down to the sea! You stay overnight at the idyllic McKenzie Hut, lying at Lake McKenzie.

Day 16
You follow the track until reaching the Divide at the road to Milford Sound. There you will be picked up by a bus, bringing you into Milford Sound. You go on a boat cruise before heading back to Queenstown.

Day 17
You drive towards Alexandra, lying in one of the driest regions; it is surrounded by surrealistic rock formations. From there you start your three day bike ride along a former Railway line, which will bring you through tunnels and over viaducts closer and closer to the coast. No cars, vans, buses, trucks are disturbing your journey on this unique Bike trail.

Day 18
Another day on the bike. The rock formations and scenery make this scenery resemble an old Wild West movie background.

Day 19
Your last hours on the bike, before you are picked up and brought back to Alexandra. From here you make your way to the coast in Oamaru, where you will see penguins walking ashore at night.

Day 20
You follow the scenic Route along the mountain range. No trip though New Zealand is complete without river crossings! On your last day you cross a few rivers and walk up on top of Mt. Sunday - lying in the middle of huge peaks. This mountain became famous thanks to the Lord of the Rings movie. Edoras was filmed on this mountain. Afterwards you continue your journey until you reach Christchurch. Time to relax and to enjoy the beautiful city and the beautiful parks. You have a fabulous dinner in Christchurch.

Day 21
Time to say Good Bye - We hope to see you again soon. We hope you will have experienced the beauty of this country and its people. Kakite Ano.
